IFAO NEW LIBRARY

At the beginning of the 20th century, a new building was built on part of the gardens of the Mounira Palace to house the French School of Law in Cairo, which trained generations of Egyptian magistrates and lawyers.

An extension for the actual IFAO ( Institut francais d’archeologie orientale) is designed to serve the new needs. This extension hosts a library space with a special collection area conserving rare archeological documents. It also hosts some offices and administration spaces. The extension was designed to merge with the existing building as well as to reflect some modern aspects and the extension’s own identity.
